Vendor Recommendations
On this trusted vendor referral page, I want to make one thing very clear: I am not necessarily recommending a company. I am recommending the people within those companies whom I have personally dealt with and learned to trust.
In today’s corporate culture, it can be difficult to find people who consistently demonstrate honesty, integrity, accountability, and a genuine commitment to doing what is right. When I find those people, I believe they deserve to be recognized.
My recommendations are therefore based on personal experience with specific individuals, not simply on the reputation or name of a company. If someone I recommend leaves a company, my recommendation may change. In my experience, when good people leave an organization, it can sometimes be an indication that the company’s culture, leadership, or ethical standards have changed as well.
If I ever change my recommendation, there are three things you can be guaranteed I will do:
- The company will be removed from the Hidden Treasure Books website if I no longer feel comfortable recommending the people or organization.
- I will issue a public announcement explaining why I changed my recommendation. I believe that if I publicly recommend someone, I have an obligation to be equally transparent if that recommendation changes.
- If my recommendation contributed to an issue or caused someone to have a negative experience, I will publicly acknowledge it, apologize, and do everything reasonably possible to help remedy the situation.
I do not take this responsibility lightly.
Throughout my life, I have worked hard to build a reputation that my children and grandchildren can be proud of. That reputation is more important to me than making a sale, maintaining a business relationship, or avoiding an uncomfortable conversation.
During my military career, rank did not determine whether something was right or wrong. If I saw something I believed was unethical, I went directly to the person involved and raised my concerns privately and respectfully. If my concerns were ignored, I followed the chain of command until I found someone willing to listen and investigate the situation.
I believe the same standard should apply here.
If I was willing to stand up for what I believed was right while serving in the military, you can rest assured that I will hold myself to that same standard on a website that bears my name.
My promise is simple: I will recommend people I trust, I will be honest about my experiences, and if that trust is ever broken, I will not be afraid to say so.
